Biography

Attorney Fhernam Batiz was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He then moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he graduated from Marquette University with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. While at Marquette, Attorney Batiz participated in multiple service projects—including a water distribution project in Guatemala—which strengthened his commitment to serving others.

As he spent time in Milwaukee, Attorney Batiz knew his relationship with Milwaukee would be a long one. Attorney Batiz attended Marquette University Law School, where he accomplished a great deal both in the classroom and in the community, winning numerous accolades. Among those are multiple CALI Awards, an award given to the highest grade in a particular law school course, notably in International Intellectual Property Law and Trademark Law.

He was also honored with the Frank C. DeGuire Award for the best published law review article. Additionally, Attorney Batiz served as the Articles Editor for the Marquette Intellectual Property and Innovation Law Review and was a member of the Dean’s List for multiple semesters.

Before joining the Gruber Law Offices family, Attorney Batiz gained legal experience working at a large multi-state business law firm, interning for the Wisconsin Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and clerking for a boutique personal injury firm. These experiences helped Attorney Batiz determine that he wanted to focus his career on helping individual community members on a day-to-day basis.

Attorney Batiz speaks multiple languages—including Spanish. Outside of the law, he enjoys cooking native Puerto Rican cuisine, supporting Marquette athletics, and distance running.
